The Merida eScultura 400 is a road bike that blends classic drop-bar performance with a modern e-bike assist system, giving you just the right amount of extra support when you need it. It’s built around a hydroformed 6066 aluminium frame, triple-butted for reduced weight and optimised strength. The frame includes smart internal cable routing and discreet mounting points for mudguards and racks, making it just as practical as it is sleek.
What makes the eScultura stand out is its minimalist Mahle X30 hub motor, delivering a smooth 40Nm of torque. Positioned in the rear hub and powered by a fully integrated 250Wh battery, the system is almost invisible to the eye and adds very little drag when not in use. At under 4kg for the full system, it keeps the overall bike weight impressively low, giving you the same responsive feel as a non-assisted bike.
You control the power levels using a single iWoc button on the top tube, with LED colour indicators and Bluetooth connectivity to the Mahle app for ride tracking and customisation. Whether you’re cruising up hills, keeping pace with faster friends, or saving your legs on a longer commute, the assistance is there when you need it.
Paired with Shimano’s 105 R7100 2x12-speed groupset, you get proven performance and smooth shifting, along with compact gearing (52/36) and a wide-range 11-36T cassette for versatility across the terrain. Braking is handled by Shimano 105 hydraulic discs, with 160mm rotors front and rear for confident stopping in all conditions.
Rolling on Merida Expert SL alloy wheels wrapped in Maxxis Pursuer 700x32c tyres, the bike offers a smooth and stable ride with the option to go wider if needed – the carbon fork clears up to 42c. Comfort is further enhanced by Merida’s own contact points, including the Expert CC seatpost and V-mount saddle.
Whether you’re returning to cycling, chasing a faster commute or looking for a lighter way to enjoy longer road rides, the Merida eScultura 400 is a subtle, efficient and confidence-inspiring e-road bike.
